About me
Prof. MANAS Behera is a Professor of Ocean Engineering at the Department of Civil Engineering and Centre for Climate Studies of Indian Institute of Technology Bombay (IIT Bombay), INDIA. He completed BTech (Honours with GOLD MEDAL) in Civil Engineering at VSSUT, Odisha, M.S. and PhD in Ocean Engineering at IIT Madras. He worked at NUS, Singapore and University of Edinburgh, UK before joining IIT Bombay. His research focus is on coastal hydro-morphodynamics, climate change impacts on coastal vulnerability and risk, extreme wave (storm and tsunami) modelling and impact analysis on offshore and coastal infrastructure. He has published ~200 research papers including ~ 60 high impact journals. He has supervised 11 post-doctoral fellows, 9 PhD students and 16 masters’ students. He has also served as Editorial Board Member and Guest Editor for refereed journals. He has initiated several national and international research collaborations. He received the prestigious “Prof. R J Garde Research Award 2018” by Indian Society for Hydraulics recognizing the contributions in the field of Ocean and Coastal Engineering. In addition, he has received several awards, honours and recognitions. He has extended professional activities for various academic, research and industrial organisations. He has extensively contributed to administrative responsibilities at National and Institute level. Currently, he is leading a research group on “Coastal, Ocean and Climate Sciences” at IIT Bombay.
