My organisation

The regional authority Hannover Region consolidates the main public services for 1.2 million inhabitants in 21 cities and communes – including Hannover, the capital of the federal state of Lower Saxony and is responsible for local public transport and waste disposal, as well as local social services, vocational colleges, and municipal hospitals. The tasks also include the environment, regional planning, local recreation facilities, and business and employment promotion. Hannover Region corresponds to the common model of a district in Germany (Landkreis). Boasting more than one fifth of Niedersachsen’s economic strength, the Hannover business region is the crucial motor for innovation and growth within the state. Business promotion activities aim to further develop the Hannover business region, and to ensure that it remains viable in future. Our job is to establish the conditions which favour business activity, and to promote the competitiveness of companies. This includes safeguarding highly qualified jobs, maintaining a business-friendly infrastructure, providing competent services and funding programmes for companies.
