Cost-Effectiveness Analysis (HTA) for AT Entering Japan
CEO at The Elements, Inc.
Tokyo, Japan
About
We apply Health Technology Assessment (HTA) methodology — the same framework used for pharmaceutical and medical device reimbursement and pricing — to assistive technology (AT). Our cost-effectiveness analyses measure both real users' quality-of-life changes and their impact on future medical costs, nursing-care costs, and productivity. For AT companies entering the Japanese market, this evidence helps governments and foundations make informed decisions about institutional recognition, insurance coverage, and funding — turning a promising product into a viable market entry. We're currently running this analysis in Japan on a European-made collision-avoidance smart glasses for people with visual impairments.
