Marine plastic pollution – fate, toxicity, analytical chemistry (GC-MS, ICP-MS) and mitigation strategies.

Algal physiology – sampling, contamination control (heavy metals, PFAS, microplastics) and nutrient profiling.

Ecotoxicology & soil health – multi-endpoint assays to ensure new materials enhance, not harm, terrestrial ecosystems.

Citizen science and outreach – wide network with regard to marine litter management in Sweden.

Effect testing – standardised ecotoxicological protocols for testing new materials in various environmental components, e.g., biota, runoff water, sediments

Environmental & agronomic validation – test nutrient-release curves, soil-microbiome impacts, biodegradability (ISO 17556/EN 17033) and absence of cadmium or other contaminants.

Field-demo network – contacts with Swedish coastal farmers and NGOsfor pilot plots comparing new films to conventional polymer coatings.

Impact & dissemination – proven outreach to policymakers (MSFD/Habitats Directive input) and citizen-science engagement to scale adoption.
