Motogo Systems: The last mile is the missing link in Europe's circular economy.
Europe cannot achieve a truly circular economy without making the movement of goods circular.
Today's delivery infrastructure is designed primarily to bring goods to consumers. But a circular economy requires goods to move just as easily in the other direction, supporting reuse, repair, refurbishment, resale, recycling, and resource recovery.
Motogo Systems is developing the missing infrastructure to make this possible.
Our two-way logistics network connects homes, businesses, and communities, making circular commerce practical for everyday use. People can receive goods, return products, send items for repair, or participate in reuse and recycling programs without making special trips or visiting collection points.
Solving the reusable packaging recovery problem
One of the biggest barriers to scaling reusable packaging is reliable recovery. Most systems depend on consumers remembering to return packaging, which introduces losses, additional costs, and logistical complexity.
Motogo addresses this fundamental problem through reusable smart parcels that are securely attached at the doorstep. Customers can receive or send goods, while authorized couriers or delivery robots recover the parcels during normal delivery operations.
Consumers do not need to return the packaging themselves.
Our initial pharmacy pilots demonstrated full parcel recovery. We believe this approach can make reusable packaging economically practical at a scale that conventional consumer-dependent return systems struggle to achieve.
What this infrastructure enables
-
Everyday two-way delivery for consumers, businesses, and public services, including returns, repairs, resale, reuse, recycling, and donations.
-
New circular business models, including product-as-a-service, rental, sharing, refurbishment, and local reuse networks.
-
Secure, unattended delivery and pickup that reduces theft, failed deliveries, and inconvenience.
-
Shared infrastructure that supports multiple logistics operators, reusable asset pools, and future robotic delivery.
-
Greater participation in the circular economy by removing the transportation burden from individuals.
Supporting Europe's PPWR and Circular Economy ambitions
The EU Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR) creates an important opportunity to establish reusable packaging as part of normal commercial operations.
Motogo is developing infrastructure to support reusable packaging systems with reliable recovery, digital traceability, and records of individual trips and reuse cycles. Our platform uses GS1 Digital Link and EPCIS 2.0 standards to support interoperability and reporting.
The opportunity extends beyond packaging. Europe's developing Circular Economy Act recognizes the importance of enabling circular business models, preserving material value, and reducing dependence on virgin resources.
Motogo provides a practical way to connect these ambitions to everyday activities at homes and businesses.
Our architecture also follows the Physical Internet vision of interconnected, interoperable logistics networks. Motogo's reusable parcels serve as foundational π-containers, while the doorstep becomes a residential node supporting the movement of goods in both directions.
About Motogo
Motogo Systems was founded in Austin, Texas, in 2016 by experienced systems architects from IBM and Dell. We hold 27 granted U.S. patents covering our reusable parcel, secure doorstep interface, and recovery systems.
Our technology has been demonstrated in pharmacy delivery pilots, and we are preparing our latest hardware and software platforms for expanded commercial testing.
In 2026, we demonstrated our Physical Internet approach at IPIC in Bordeaux and presented our work at the REMADE conference at the U.S. National Academy of Sciences
European collaboration opportunities
We are seeking European partners interested in deploying and advancing circular logistics infrastructure, including:
-
Municipalities and regional circular economy initiatives
-
Reusable packaging systems and logistics operators
-
Retailers, manufacturers, and circular economy businesses
-
PPWR implementation and policy organizations
-
Physical Internet researchers and EU research consortia
-
Pilot deployments, strategic partnerships, and technology licensing
Our goal is simple: Make moving physical goods to and from every home as effortless as moving information, providing the everyday infrastructure needed for a truly circular economy.
