About

Hanze University of Applied Sciences (HUAS), Groningen is the largest technical & vocational university in the northern Netherlands and is located in Groningen. The University counts approximately 31,000 students and 3,800 employees. HUAS trains professionals in more than 70 degree programmes (54 bachelor’s and 19 master’s) employs 99 PHD-students and 64 professors. Its main research focus is on entrepreneurship, energy and healthy ageing. Research is carried out in six multidisciplinary research centres. One of these centres is Kenniscentrum NoorderRuimte, a multidisciplinary research hub that looks at the built environment from different perspectives. Within this research hub, the research group Living Environment in Transition looks at demographic changes, revival or redevelopment of cultural heritage, co-creation, participation of civilians and at sustainable regional development.
