My organisation

The CNRS (Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique) is a public scientific and technological establishment founded in 1939. It is one of the largest research bodies in the world and plays a central role in the development of science and research in France. Its main objective is to promote, support and coordinate scientific research in a wide variety of disciplines, ranging from the humanities and social sciences to the exact sciences, engineering and life sciences. The CNRS is a benchmark institution, particularly for its fundamental research aimed at increasing our understanding of the world and the universe. It employs more than 30,000 researchers, engineers, technicians and administrative staff in around 1,100 research units, often in collaboration with universities, schools, research institutes and companies. This organisation enables the CNRS to carry out large-scale projects and contribute to the dissemination of knowledge on a global scale. The fields of research covered by the CNRS are extremely varied and covered by its 10 Institutes: Institute of Biological Sciences, Institute of Chemistry, Institute of Ecology and Environment, Institute of Engineering and Systems Science, Institute of Humanities and Social Sciences, Institute of Mathematics, Institute of Physics, Institute of Earth Sciences, Institute for Research in Nuclear and Particle Physics,Institute for Computer Science and its Applications. In addition to fundamental research, the CNRS is also involved in applied work, contributing to technological innovations and solutions to social and environmental challenges. The CNRS is also a key player in the training of future researchers, supporting doctoral training and encouraging international collaborations. It plays a crucial role in the development of science worldwide and is involved in numerous European and international research projects. Finally, the CNRS plays an active role in promoting research, in particular through the protection of intellectual property, technology transfer and the creation of partnerships with companies to encourage innovation and the application of research results in concrete products or services. The CNRS is thus a key institution in the scientific and academic landscape, contributing to the advancement of knowledge, innovation and France's scientific reputation.
