ZSI conducts research and application projects on the social embedding and impact of all types of innovations and contributes to the design and diffusion of socially accepted and sustainable innovations to meet global challenges. By deployment of innovative research, education, advisory services and co-ordination of networks, we create new knowledge, reflect and configure existing knowledge, evaluate measures, develop concepts and forward their implementation. As independent and globally acting scientific institution, we are engaged in the development of theories, methodologies, instruments and measures as well as in the dissemination of a systemically conceptualised broad innovation approach, contributing also to the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals.

EXPERIENCE AND KNOW-HOW IN THE FIELD OF SOCIAL TRANSFORMATIONS & RESILIENCE

As the Centre for Social Innovation, social transformation is at the core of most of our projects. We are experts in public and citizen engagement, transdsciplinary approaches and social impact assessment.

IF YOU HAVE ANY POLICY EXPERIENCE, COULD YOU SHARE INFORMATION ON AREAS, METHODS, RISKS, AND FACTORS FOR SUCCESS?

In our projects, societal transformation is at the core, often resulting in recommendations for policymaking (e.g., policy briefs and policy recommendations). In my experience, it is important to target the appropriate level of policymakers and to distill the core recommendations in a way that makes them both understandable and digestible. Too often, recommendations are not taken up, revealing a gap between project outcomes and impact at the policy level.
