AGH University of Krakow, originally founded in 1919 as a mining academy, has evolved into one of Poland's leading universities, offering a comprehensive range of programs across various disciplines. While maintaining its strong foundation in engineering and natural sciences, AGH has progressively integrated social sciences and humanities into its curriculum to address the multifaceted challenges of contemporary society. The Faculty of Humanities, established in 2001 (formerly the Faculty of Applied Social Sciences), exemplifies this interdisciplinary approach. It was created in response to the educational and research needs arising from globalization and rapid technological advancement. The faculty's mission is to educate specialists who combine social knowledge with expertise in new information and communication technologies applicable to various public and business sectors. The faculty offers studies in disciplines such as Sociology and Cultural Studies, with specializations including Multimedia and Social Communication, Economic Sociology, New Media and Intercultural Communication, Culture of New Media, and Visual Communication and Graphic Design. In addition to the Faculty of Humanities, AGH offers programs in Social Informatics and Digital Marketing, further emphasizing its dedication to blending technological proficiency with social science insights. AGH's commitment to integrating social sciences and humanities with its traditional technical disciplines ensures that graduates are well-equipped to navigate and address the complex issues of today's interconnected world.
