Workshop Description:
Melanie Gabriel, Co-Founder of Sequoia-financed startup Yokoy and Dr. Thomas Dübendorfer, President of SICTIC and Co-Founder of nine Swiss tech startups, share their best practices from their own startup journeys and SICTIC's 400+ startup investments.They will touch on how to build a winning founder team and what your business case should look like to win angel investors at seed stage and later growth funding from Venture Capitalists. They'll also have some time for answering your questions.

Melanie Gabriel is Co-Director & COO of the ETH AI Center. Previously, she was Co-Founder and CMO of Yokoy, a Sequoia-backed FinTech and AI company successfully sold in early 2025. In her weekly podcast and newsletter followthegradient.io, she speaks with guests about how to successfully scale a company from Europe, while staying sane. Melanie lectures at ETH Zurich and the University of St. Gallen, serves on the boards of SICTIC and Moodtalk, and is active as an angel investor and advisor. She holds a Master’s degree in Business Management from the University of St. Gallen.
Thomas Dübendorfer is the President of SICTIC, the leading angel investor club in Switzerland that is involved in more than 100 startup financing rounds each year. He was awarded SECA Business Angel of the Year 2024, three times Digital Shaper of Switzerland, and he is the editor of the free Swiss Angel Investor Handbook and co-founder of nine Swiss technology startups and always scouting for new hot B2B tech startups in Switzerland.
