CareTechr is a pioneering healthtech startup revolutionizing remote patient monitoring (RPM). We are on a mission to deliver hospital-quality care into patients' homes using a proprietary ecosystem of smart wearables, IoT/IoMT devices, and an AI-powered software platform. By enabling real-time monitoring of vital signs (blood pressure, glucose, ECG, SpO2), fall detection, and medication adherence, we are shifting healthcare from reactive sick-care to proactive, value-based preventive care—ultimately reducing hospital readmissions and lowering costs for providers, insurers, and families.
As a member of the Start Up Portugal as well as Health Cluster Portugal, we are strategically positioned to scale rapidly from our base in Portugal into the wider European health market.
The Role: Co-Founder & COO
We are looking for an exceptional operational leader and strategic partner to join as our Co-Founder & COO. This is not an employee role; it’s an opportunity to co-own and drive every aspect of a high-growth healthtech startup alongside the founding team.
You will be the operational backbone of CareTechr, transforming our vision into scalable, efficient, and profitable realities. Based in Portugal, you will oversee the expansion of our delivery within the country and build the operational framework for international growth. You will be responsible for every process that touches patients, clients, and the team—from the quality of in-home care delivery to supply chain, customer success, people operations, and compliance.
Key Responsibilities
Operational Strategy & Delivery:
· Design, implement, and optimize all operational workflows for the seamless delivery of home-based healthcare across Portugal.
· Build and manage a high-performing field team of nurses, caregivers, and technicians, ensuring excellence in patient care.
· Oversee the integration of our technology (IoT wearables, app) with daily service delivery to ensure real-time data drives clinical and operational decisions.
Growth, Partnerships & Compliance:
· Lead business development and forge strategic partnerships with hospitals, insurance companies, and public health authorities.
· Manage internationalization efforts, starting with expansion into key European markets.
· Ensure strict compliance with Portuguese and EU healthcare regulations (including GDPR and medical device frameworks), and manage contracts with suppliers and partners.
Team, Finance & Culture:
· Own recruiting, onboarding, and the development of a performance-driven culture. Mentor junior staff and manage day-to-day people operations.
· Manage operating budgets, P&L, unit economics, and cash flow. Identify capital needs and actively support upcoming fundraising rounds.
· Embody a "get-things-done" mentality—wearing multiple hats, solving problems on the ground, and building a collaborative, mission-driven startup culture.
Who You Are !
Core Requirements:
· Operational leader: 5-8+ years in operations management, consulting, or a leadership role in a startup. Proven track record of scaling a service business in a regulated environment.
· Healthtech domain expertise: Deep understanding of healthcare delivery, patient monitoring, or connected health.
· Data-driven & analytical: Strong commercial acumen and ability to use data to drive strategic decisions.
· Operationally hands-on: Willing to step in at any level (from logistics to client calls) to ensure execution.
· Excellent communication & interpersonal skills: Fluent in English (mandatory); Portuguese highly preferred for local execution.
Bonus points:
· Experience with IoT/IoMT hardware integration, value-based care models, or international expansion.
· MBA or a master's in healthcare management, public health, or business.
· Existing network within Portugal’s hospital, insurance, or startup ecosystem.
Location, Terms & Compensation
· Location: This role is based in Portugal with a co-founder commitment to be on-site as needed.
· Equity & compensation: This is a co-founder/vesting equity role initially, with a performance-based transition into a competitive market salary as milestones are met. Specific equity percentage to be negotiated based on experience and commitment level.
· Investment consideration: Open to candidates who bring strategic investment alongside their operational expertise.
