Meine Organisation
Helmholtz Munich is the German Research Center for Environmental Health. It investigates important common diseases, which develop from the interaction of lifestyle, environmental factors and personal genetic background, focusing particularly on diabetes mellitus, allergies and chronic lung diseases. Helmholtz Munich is a research institution of the Federal Republic of Germany and the Free State of Bavaria with approximately 2500 employees. It is a member of the Helmholtz Association of German Research Centers, Germany’s largest scientific organisation. The mission of Helmholtz Munich is to discover personalized medical solutions for the prevention, diagnosis and therapy of environmentally triggered diseases and promote a healthier society in a rapidly changing world. With this goal, Helmholtz Munich participates in six German Centres for Health Research. In order to translate basic research into medical applications, Helmholtz Munich researchers collaborate with translational research centers and clinical partners at universities and hospitals as well as with the industry. The center offers cutting-edge technology in its core facilities for genomic, transcriptomic, proteomic and metabolomic analyses, a bioinformatics division supporting data analysis and handling, and has large capacities for animal housing and phenotyping. The German Mouse Clinic is located on the Helmholtz Munich campus.
