SCRAP REDUCTION AND IN-PROCESS TRACEABILITY FOR HIGH-VALUE CARBON-CERAMIC COMPONENTS
COO at Therness

About
Therness is seeking a strategic partnership with a company that has at least one operational unit in the Piedmont region. The goal is to industrially validate our technology, developed in close collaboration with the Politecnico di Torino, in order to participate in a funding call.
We are looking for an industrial partner specialized in the production or processing of carbon-ceramic materials (e.g., brake discs, aerospace applications, high-strength components). The objective is to launch a pilot project to apply our real-time thermographic inspection solutions (the HeatCore family and high-precision sensors) to your critical thermal processes and the joining/brazing operations of these advanced materials.
We propose the non-invasive installation of our industrial radiometric thermal cameras and our AI Edge Servers directly on your production line. Considering the high value of carbon-ceramic components, the system will map the exact thermal profile of each operation, building the "Golden Curve" of the ideal process. The goal is to demonstrate the Therness system's ability to:
- Monitor the homogeneity of thermal distribution to prevent thermal shocks, cracks, or delaminations invisible to the naked eye.
- Detect anomalies and defects during the joining phases in a matter of milliseconds.
- Generate a digital record for every single component, ensuring absolute traceability.
We are looking for our ideal partner among:
- Manufacturing companies (End-Users) operating in the High-Performance Automotive, Aerospace, Defense, or Heavy Industry sectors, that develop or utilize carbon-ceramic matrix components.
- Companies interested in innovating their quality control, shifting from slow and expensive end-of-line Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) to 100% in-process monitoring.
Benefits for the partner
Carbon-ceramic materials are extremely expensive and take days or even weeks to produce, passing through furnaces and highly delicate thermal processes. They therefore have extremely high production costs and cycle times.
By participating in this project, the partner will be able to:
- Identify thermal anomalies in real time, intervening immediately to halt the processing of a compromised part and correct parameters to save the batch, before generating a costly end-of-cycle scrap.
- Understand the process through objective data, such as the golden curve on thermal dynamics, to optimize production recipes. This allows the partner's engineers to refine production parameters, improving overall yield and quality.
- Reassure their end customers about the quality and structural integrity of every single delivered part, thanks to objective certifications and irrefutable digital evidence demonstrating the absence of thermal anomalies.
