Counterfog® is a unique technology, originally developed in the FP7 EU Research and Development program (no. 312804 ) , for the rapid disinfection of bioaerosols and decontamination of chemical, biological and radiological agents, smoke and dust. The European Commission , concerned about growing terrorist threats based on biological weapons (such as anthrax), urged European researchers to propose and develop new effective, rapid and easily adaptable technologies to multiple situations in which a toxic cloud could be released, regardless of its origin and characteristics. Counterfog® was developed by a multidisciplinary team from 10 international institutions - Spain, the United Kingdom, Sweden, Germany, the Czech Republic and Bulgaria - coordinated by the University of Alcalá . The exclusive Counterfog® technology endorsed by the University of Alcalá (Spain) and other European research centers such as the Academies of Sciences of the Czech Republic and Bulgaria , the Higher Council for Scientific Research ( CSIC ) among others. It generates a powerful cone of fog made up of submicron droplets that, due to its size and penetration capacity, is capable of quickly eliminating all polluting substances from the air and surfaces.
