About
Namunyak is an award-winning, Indigenous-led mobile app that combines symbolic mapping with satellite data to track water sources, wildlife, and climate risks in hard-to-reach regions. Co-designed with Samburu women in northern Kenya, the platform empowers communities to generate hyperlocal, culturally meaningful data that can feed into national systems and global early warning efforts.
Namunyak bridges the gap between traditional knowledge and Earth observation, offering space agencies and climate actors a powerful tool for ground-truthing satellite imagery in drought-prone, data-scarce areas. It’s not just tech for tech’s sake — it’s built for survival.
We are now seeking funding and strategic partners to:
-
Scale deployment across East Africa, the Sahel, and the Amazon basin
-
Integrate AI tools for pattern detection and alerts
-
Strengthen data interoperability with early warning systems
-
Build capacity within Indigenous communities to lead sustained use
Featured in an upcoming ARTE documentary and backed by global partners, Namunyak is a new blueprint for climate resilience — Indigenous-led, data-smart, and space-aware
