About

Astro-1 is a real-time conjunction assessment and collision avoidance system developed by SpaceMap Inc.
It utilizes a proprietary Voronoi-diagram–based engine to calculate spatial relationships between satellites in real time and, when a collision threat is detected, determines the optimal avoidance trajectory that minimizes ΔV (delta-V, or maneuver effort).

Key Features:

  1. Real-time Analysis – Detects close approaches between satellites in real time using orbital data such as TLEs.

  2. Geometry-based Approach – Unlike traditional probability-based Monte Carlo methods, Astro-1 applies spatial partitioning techniques for faster and more accurate computations.

  3. Optimal Maneuver Planning – Calculates collision-avoidance trajectories that balance fuel efficiency and orbital stability.

  4. API and Digital Twin Integration – Fully interoperable with AstroLibrary, enabling data access via API or visualization through digital twin–based simulations.

  5. Verified Performance – The core algorithm has been validated through AFRL (U.S. Air Force Research Laboratory) projects and applied in KARI (Korea Aerospace Research Institute) contracts.

  6. Applications – Supports satellite constellation operations, commercial satellite service providers, STM (Space Traffic Management) agencies, and defense or national space operations.

In essence, Astro-1 is the core SaaS solution of SpaceMap, recognized as the world’s first commercialized Voronoi-based real-time collision-prediction system, enabling safer and more efficient satellite operations through digital twin technology.
