About

Réaltra Space Systems Engineering designs and manufactures high-reliability avionics and data-handling systems for satellites and launch vehicles. A division of Realtime Technologies Ltd., the company has built a strong international reputation through collaborations with ArianeGroup, OHB, ESA, and other leading European partners. Réaltra’s mission is to deliver cost-effective, space-qualified solutions that combine proven flight heritage with innovation for the NewSpace era.

A core strength of Réaltra lies in launch vehicle avionics. The company developed and delivered both the VIKI video telemetry system and GEKI GNSS trajectory unit for Europe’s new Ariane 6 rocket. The six-camera VIKI kit provides live HD video throughout the flight, enabling real-time monitoring of stage separations and payload deployment. The GEKI unit uses GNSS signals to supply precise trajectory and velocity data and successfully flew on Ariane 6’s maiden launch. These systems—also used on Ariane 5 for the James Webb Space Telescope—demonstrate Réaltra’s ability to produce reliable, high-performance telemetry and data-handling hardware for demanding space missions.

Réaltra’s expertise extends to spacecraft electronics. The company designed the Payload Interface Unit (PLIU) for ESA’s PLATO exoplanet mission, Ireland’s largest contribution to an ESA science spacecraft. The PLIU regulates power and thermal stability for PLATO’s 26 telescopes with milli-Kelvin precision, ensuring scientific accuracy.

In collaboration with partners such as TTTech Aerospace and Ubotica, Réaltra is now advancing AI-enabled on-board computing, integrating machine-learning algorithms for real-time fault detection and autonomy in orbit. These innovations are paving the way for more intelligent, resilient satellite systems that require less ground intervention.

With a proven track record across European launchers and scientific missions, Réaltra offers dependable, flight-qualified avionics and telemetry solutions for spacecraft integrators, launcher developers, and satellite operators. Its presence at Space Tech Expo Bremen 2025 highlights Ireland’s growing role in global space engineering and Réaltra’s commitment to enabling the next generation of European space technology.
