About

Astuse protects the assets nobody is watching.

Cities and operators own thousands of unattended assets: EV chargers, bike-share docks, bus shelters, pumping stations, depots and yards, and the streets where waste gets dumped. Many already have cameras, and most of those assets already report their own status. But nobody watches the footage, and the two never meet. Damage is found days later, by a customer complaint or a crew on its round, and the fix is rarely proven.

Astuse Technologies Inc. (Montréal, Canada) is the layer that decides and acts. It does four things:

  1. Detect. Astuse analyses the video from cameras the customer already has (IP cameras through ONVIF or RTSP, event-clip cameras, 4G solar cameras on unpowered sites, vehicle cameras) and flags what matters: a camera shaken, moved or covered, someone forcing equipment, a group gathering at night, a vehicle unloading waste, an asset out of service.

  2. Confirm with a second source. Video alone raises false alarms. Astuse checks each event against what the asset itself reports: a charger fault, a dock that lost a bike with no rental, a door sensor, a level or flow reading from any data feed (HTTP, MQTT, GBFS and more). With our October release, every alert shows why it fired: the trigger and each signal that supports or contradicts it, with its confidence.

  3. Act. The operator gets the alert within minutes, with the clip, in Teams, email or a webhook, and Astuse opens the work order in the maintenance system (ServiceNow is verified end to end; Maximo and Open311 are next). Operators can also ask questions in plain language: "show me what happened at this station between 2 and 4 am", "was the same person at other sites tonight?"

  4. Prove. When the crew closes the job, a new picture confirms the repair. The October release also packages each confirmed incident as a verifiable evidence file for an insurer or a claim: redacted clips, timeline, asset data and a tamper-evident record. Outcome reports show precision per rule, review rate and time to resolve, so the customer can see what the service is worth.

Privacy by design. Faces and licence plates are blurred by default, everywhere. Originals are only reachable through an audited administrator session. Astuse does not sell facial recognition for identification, and we publish our blurring recall instead of claiming perfection. Astuse is hosted in Canada, a country recognised by the European Commission as providing adequate data protection. The interface is in English, French and Spanish.

Proof. We have just completed a paid four-month pilot with a Montréal bike-share operator: cameras at stations, combined with the docks' own data. Camera-tampering detection was validated during the pilot, with alerts reaching the operator within minutes and the clip attached. Confirming vandalism and theft with the dock data is in validation this winter.

What we can bring to Catalan challenge owners:

  • Water and utilities (for example Aigües de Barcelona): unstaffed sites where intrusion or tampering is checked against equipment and sensor data before a crew is sent.

  • Waste (for example the Agència Catalana de Residus and municipalities): illegal-dumping hotspots watched by fixed cameras, and vehicle-camera route surveys that map dumping, damaged signs and road defects, each with its photo, position and time, sent as a request.

  • EV charging and mobility (for example Repsol, RACC, bike-share and transit operators): vandalised or blocked chargers and docks detected and confirmed with the charger's or dock's own fault data, so the right crew goes once.

  • Rail and logistics (for example Talgo): depots and yards where unattended rolling stock and equipment need watching after hours.

How we start. A fixed-price pilot of 60 to 90 days on 10 to 20 cameras plus the asset's data feed, with outcome metrics agreed before it starts (time to detect, time to resolve, false-alert rate), weekly reviews and a final report with measured results. We use the customer's cameras where they exist, and 4G solar cameras where there is no power.

Who we want to meet: owners and operators of unattended assets in Catalonia (utilities, waste agencies, EV-charging and mobility operators, transit and rail companies, municipalities with a funded pilot), and integrators or equipment makers who want to add confirmed incidents and closed-loop work orders to their offer.
