About
Aerosophia: Drone Operations Intelligence
Aerosophia is a Dutch technology company, founded in 2024 and headquartered in Utrecht, that turns drone data into decisions for the owners and operators of critical infrastructure. The platform covers the workflow around drone inspections: planning and data capture, AI analysis, reporting, and integration with the systems asset owners already use.
The challenge addressed
Drones now capture large volumes of imagery and sensor data, but much of it is still reviewed manually, stored in folders, and summarized in reports that are hard to compare over time. Value is lost between the flight and the work order. Asset owners need to know what changed, what matters, and what to do next, and that information has to arrive inside their own maintenance and asset management processes. Aerosophia closes that gap.
What the platform does
Aerosophia processes drone data in multiple formats, including RGB imagery, LiDAR point clouds, and multispectral data. The AI models detect anomalies, damage, and changes between inspections, and present the findings in a structured, georeferenced form that inspectors and asset managers can review, validate, and compare over time.
Findings do not stay in a dashboard. Automated workflows carry validated results into enterprise systems such as IBM Maximo, so that an inspection result can become a service request without manual retyping. This integration layer is where much of the practical value sits, and Aerosophia treats it as a core part of the product rather than an add on.
Supporting inspectors, not replacing them
The platform is built to support the people who carry out inspections. The AI handles the repetitive work of screening large datasets, and experienced inspectors make the final judgment. This keeps accountability with qualified professionals and makes results easier to trust and audit.
Sectors and use cases
Aerosophia serves organizations in water management, energy, ports, oil and gas, and rail. Typical use cases include levee and dike inspection, pressurized pipeline monitoring, overhead line and substation inspection, and site security and stockpile monitoring. Engagements range from proofs of concept to integrations with existing asset management environments, and each project is shaped around the client’s inspection methods and regulatory context.
Operating model and partners
Aerosophia is a platform provider. The company owns drones for development and testing, but does not fly regularly itself. Flights are carried out by certified drone operators, which lets clients work with the operators they trust while using one consistent analytics layer. In October 2026, Aerosophia announced a partnership with Wingtra, the Swiss drone manufacturer, to offer bundled hardware and platform solutions for linear asset inspection. Aerosophia is also listed on the Siemens Xcelerator Marketplace. In addition, a drone detection module is in development with DroneStars, extending the focus from inspection data to airspace awareness.
The team
Aerosophia was founded by Jeroen Hanekamp, cofounder and CEO, and Camilo Gaviria, cofounder and CTO. Jeroen brings experience from enterprise software, legal, and PLM leadership roles, as well as an operational background in emergency response and certified drone piloting. Camilo leads the technology behind the platform. Together they have built a company that is practical, compliance aware, and focused on fitting into real operational environments.
