Commu

Commu is a Finnish civic tech platform that helps cities build community resilience in everyday life and in a crisis. Our mobile app connects residents, municipalities, NGOs and companies so that people can ask for and give help in their own neighbourhood.

Preparedness and crisis response

• Crisis preparedness and resilience modules for municipalities, bringing preparedness information and guidance to residents in their own neighbourhood.

• Volunteer coordination: when a disruption hits, the city and local NGOs can mobilise volunteers and neighbourly help and direct it to where it is needed.

• A network that already exists: residents use Commu every day for mutual aid, sharing and lending, so the local help network is active before a crisis – not built from scratch during one.

• Data for decision-makers: data on help needs by region, age group and category shows cities where vulnerability and helping capacity are.

Other modules include digital resident councils, volunteer and companion programmes, and circular economy sharing of skills, goods and rides.
