About

cogniBIT develops cognitive AI technology for realistic traffic simulation and the evaluation of autonomous mobility systems.

Our technology models the behavior of human road users – including drivers, pedestrians, cyclists and other vulnerable road users (VRUs) – enabling autonomous driving systems to be tested in realistic, interactive and safety-critical traffic situations.

For Smart City and urban mobility projects, cogniBIT supports cities, mobility operators and autonomous driving providers in identifying and analyzing critical traffic situations and high-risk locations within a city or defined operational area. Based on digital road environments and realistic human behavior models, we can simulate large numbers of traffic interactions and investigate where challenging or potentially dangerous situations for autonomous vehicles are most likely to occur.

These critical scenarios can then be used to evaluate and compare autonomous driving systems, identify weaknesses in their behavior and support developers in improving and training their algorithms specifically for difficult interactions with human road users.

Our approach is particularly relevant for complex urban environments involving pedestrians, cyclists, mixed traffic, intersections, crossings and other situations where human behavior is difficult to predict.

cogniBIT therefore connects traffic simulation, critical-scenario analysis and autonomous-system validation, helping cities and technology providers understand not only whether an autonomous system works, but how safely and robustly it performs in the most challenging real-world situations.
