AI Logistics Orchestrator for Steel Distribution
Strategic Innovation Partner at MAFESA
VIC, Spain
About
Mafesa is a leading steel distribution and processing company operating a multi-site logistics network and its own transport fleet across Catalonia.
Unlike conventional logistics operators, Mafesa transports long, heavy and irregular steel products, making truck loading optimization significantly more complex than standard palletized logistics.
Every day, steel products, processed components and construction materials are transported between our distribution centers and delivered to customers. As our operations grow, logistics planning has become increasingly complex. Today, truck loading, unloading sequences, routing and inter-site transfers are planned separately, creating inefficiencies such as underutilized truck capacity, unnecessary handling operations and longer loading and unloading times.
We are looking for innovative solutions capable of transforming our logistics planning into a smart, integrated and data-driven process.
The ideal solution should optimize truck loading based not only on available volume, but also on delivery sequence, weight distribution, load stability and operational efficiency. We are also interested in technologies capable of optimizing delivery routes, coordinating material movements between our different centers and improving overall fleet utilization.
Solutions may leverage Artificial Intelligence, Digital Twins, advanced optimization algorithms or any other innovative technology able to improve logistics orchestration.
The solution should preferably integrate with our existing ERP (Sage X3) and logistics systems.
Expected outcomes include:
-
Higher truck utilization and load optimization.
-
Reduced loading, unloading and handling times.
-
Optimized delivery routes and inter-site logistics.
-
Improved coordination across multiple distribution centers.
-
Lower transport costs and reduced carbon footprint.
-
Increased operational efficiency and service quality.
