About

Consorci per a la Gestió dels Residus del Vallés Oriental (CGRVO)     is a public entity of associative nature and of local character constituted by 40 municipalities for the creation, management and provision in a unified way of activities and services related to waste. The CGRVO is the owner of the Vallès Oriental Regional Waste Treatment Center, and among its facilities is the anaerobic digestion and composting plant, managed directly by the Consortium. This plant has a treatment capacity of 53,000 tons per year of selectively collected organic fraction, which generates 4.5 MNm3 of biogas that is used by two 626 kWe engines to obtain 7.5 GWh of electrical energy that is exported to the electricity grid. The CGRVO has initiated a project called Bioenergy Vallès Oriental to expand the anaerobic digestion and composting plant to a capacity of 80,000 tons per year in a first phase, which is currently being executed, and up to 100,000 tons per year in a second phase by 2036, which will triple the biogas generated in this facility. Moreover, currently has an upgrading plant, the BioVO project for biogas upgrading to produce biomethane which is injected into the grid with a capacity of 500 Nm3 biogas per hour. It has been partially funded by FEDER, and started injection in July 2023
