Monitoring the condition of facilities using train cameras.

Head of international consultancy and innovation at Ferrocarrils Generalitat Catalunya (FGC)

Barcelona, Barcelona, Spain

About

Based on the images captured by the various cameras installed on a conventional train on each line, the aim is to monitor the condition of the installations.

Depending on the camera, for example the front or side camera, we can see the condition of the track platform, ground movements in embankments, the presence of vegetation and other factors.

The ceiling cameras can provide information on the condition of the catenary and its misalignment, among other things.

The idea would be to apply artificial vision or AI so that, through comparative analysis of the images, the system generates alerts that allow us to anticipate maintenance tasks or prevent incidents.
