Flowity Road AI offers automated identification of road damage, analysing recorded video sequences from cameras like GoPros, smartphones, or vehicle-mounted cameras to automatically detect cracks, potholes, wear, and other road damage. All detected damage within the camera's view is continuously collected, positioned with GPS coordinates, and categorized by damage type. This material is then processed by specialized video processing algorithms to create a report for critical decisions in maintenance planning.

All vehicle objects and pedestrians are automatically filtered out of the recorded material so that no object can be traced in the collected data.

Technical Product Description

Flowity Road AI is a machine learning-based service optimized for detecting and analysing road defects. The system utilizes Microsoft Azure and is designed to identify seven types of defects, including longitudinal and transverse cracks, severe frost cracks, edge breaks, potholes, and wear damage with stone chips. A unique feature of Flowity's system is its ability to accurately calculate the area of each defect. This functionality enables the creation of decision support for maintenance plans, calculation of material needs, and accurate cost estimation for maintenance work.

For uploading video material, Flowity Road AI provides a web interface that streamlines the management and transfer of information. The interface allows users to choose between two main algorithms based on road type, with segment intervals set at 2.5 meters for bicycle paths and 4 meters for roads. Once processing is complete, the system allows downloading of results, which include data files in CSV or ESRI shapefile format. Linked to the data file of all road defects is an image library that provides segmented video frames showing detected defects. Data files are complete with GPS coordinates for each analyzed segment and detailed measurements of the defects. Flowity Road AI comes with a standard output in road segments of 10m with the total area of defects per class in each segment. Additionally, Flowity Road AI also provides the estimated road width in each segment.

Flowity Road AI is unique in its ability to deliver repeatable results with very high accuracy in calculating the area of defects32. Flowity can also help you accurately inventory your road and traffic signs, classify, and place them for maintenance work and asset management. Furthermore, Flowity can accurately position each individual defect, enabling continuous tracking of defect development and more advanced post-processing analysis.
