About
Cellular protein quality control consists of a sophisticated network of molecular chaperones, enzymes and protein degradation machineries that tightly regulate all aspects of the life cycle of a protein.
This workshop brought together scientists from different fields to cover all aspects of protein quality control, from the molecular up to the cellular and organismal level. We discussed - in an inclusive and open atmosphere - novel and non-canonical mechanisms of protein quality control, including its dysfunctions underlying disease. There was 54 talks, 150 posters and 200 participants. The workshop was divided into 6 sessions which regarded specific topics of PQC. In the last evening of the workshop we had a banquet where we could celebrate together.
The venue was at the northern coast of Crete, at the enchanting town of Hersonissos at the Aegean Sea, close to the world-famous archaeological site of Knossos Palace. Thanks to this wonderful location we could enjoy beautiful views, nice weather and delicious Mediterranean cuisine.
I am really happy that I had an opportunity to attend this event. It was a very motivating and horizon-broadening experience.
