About

In April 2024, together with labmembers I attended 13th Neuronus conference in Cracow, Poland. The event in general is huge and touches many aspects of Neuroscience, although my main focus was automated quantification of animal behavior. This time I presented a poster entitled "Establishing the unified, automatic, unbiased platform for characterization of social behavior in mice". Since there was quite a big group of scientist (both young and experienced) highly interested in the topic, the conversation was heated. We have discussed very technical details of how machine learning and simple rule-based classifiers can be of help in proper identification of particular behaviors of mice. We talked about strong points and the weak points of each approches, and also about challanges in improving the efficiency of classifiers. Young researchers (especialy in psychology field) asked many qiestions about how our results from animal studies may be beneficial for human studies, and what are the future directions of automatization (including artificial intelligence) in Neuroscience in general.
