The University of Western Macedonia (UoWM), founded in 2019 through the merger and upgrade of the Technological Educational Institute of Western Macedonia, is a public higher education institution serving the region of Western Macedonia, Greece. With main campuses in Kozani (headquarters), Florina, Kastoria, Ptolemaida, and Grevena, UoWM emphasizes applied research, innovation, and education tailored to local challenges like post-lignite economic transition, sustainable agriculture, and environmental resilience.

The School of Economic Sciences leads in business, economics, and management studies, promoting interdisciplinary approaches to regional development, entrepreneurship, and sustainability. It supports EU-funded projects addressing circular economy, bioeconomy, and risk management in rural/post-industrial contexts.

The Department of Business Administration and Organization, based at the Grevena campus, delivers undergraduate (BSc) and postgraduate (MSc) programs in business management, organizational strategies, entrepreneurship, and sustainable operations. Faculty and researchers, including Assistant Professor Stavros Kalogiannidis, supervise postdoctoral work on topics like operational ecosystem services management—vital for Western Macedonia's green transition.
