TextileLoop: Scalable Circular Value Chains for Textiles

Jorunn Thingnes

Head of Sustainability and Development at Sirkula IKS

Hamar, Norway

About

This project idea focuses on advancing the circular management of textiles by improving collection systems, sorting technologies, reuse, and recycling solutions. It aims to develop and test innovative approaches that increase material recovery and extend the lifetime of textile products.

The project will pilot new methods for efficient collection and sorting, while supporting the development of circular business models and stronger collaboration with local stakeholders and social enterprises. It will also explore the use of digital tools to track textile flows and improve transparency across value chains, as well as introduce incentives to encourage citizen participation.

Furthermore, the project will assess the technical, environmental, and economic performance of the proposed solutions, alongside their scalability and market potential. By strengthening regional value chains and engaging communities, it contributes to reducing textile waste and accelerating the transition to a circular textile economy.
