BLOC 5 - Sub-Theme 3: Using Tools to Put Reuse into Practice

Location:Charles RogierTrack:BLOC 5 - Designing for Reuse: Structuring Circular Renovation at Every Scale

Jérémie BERNARD - Project Coordinator for Life Waste2Build

Life Waste2Build is a Life funded project. The aim is to develop a new system to improve resource efficiency and encourage the shift towards a circular economy in the construction sector through the development of recycling solutions and the the use of second life materials in construction. The project’s approach has been implemented at 58 exemplary public or private worksites. A methodology and tools have been developed to encourage the shift towards a circular economy in both the renovation of buildings and also new construction projects or landscaping. This methodology supports project owners through all steps of a project, beginning with the pre-demolition audit (PEMD diagnosis in France), through to the recommendations on how to command and proceed.

Léna Doguet Project Manager for Cyneo

Cyneo offers its community of members a set of practical solutions to integrate circular economy principles into their activities and to systematize this approach in construction projects. Production and storage spaces, showrooms, training programs, and tailored support services are among the tools that make the approach operational and help strengthen the skills of all stakeholders in the sector.

Paul WAGELMANS | Educational Coordinator in Sustainable Construction | IFAPME Training Center Liège-Huy-Verviers | ConstruForm - Empowering Green and Digital Skills for Deconstruction

Deconstruction and material reuse require a more sustainable and collaborative approach to the end-of-life phase of buildings. The Erasmus+ BIM4D project highlights the need to raise awareness and provide new digital skills to all construction and renovation stakeholders, from project owners to on-site teams and maintenance professionals.
