BLOC 5 - Sub-Theme 2: creating materials for a second life

Location:Charles RogierTrack:BLOC 5 - Designing for Reuse: Structuring Circular Renovation at Every Scale

Amélie Halbach | Digital culture in architecture laboratory – Faculty of Architecture, University of Liège : circular design and material passport: two complementary levers to facilitate the reuse of construction materials

ISO 59040, by TerraMatters, Luxemburg: elevate the circular value of your products with a Product Circularity Data Sheet (PCDS) tool

Florence Poncelet R&D Scientist - Sustainable Construction & Processes @ Buildwise, PRN H-Reuse : Currently, the regulatory framework for construction products does not yet allow for the assessment or declaration of the technical performance of reused materials, due to technical and economic constraints. However, the revised Construction Products Regulation (CPR) adopted in 2024 now includes the consideration of reused products within this regulatory framework. As a result, standardization work is currently being carried out at both the European and Belgian levels to adapt performance assessment methods to these materials. In particular, a procedure based on four methods is being developed by Buildwise, in collaboration with industry stakeholders.
