PRIO

PRIO is the largest producer of biofuels in Portugal, manufacturing them from residual raw materials. Through this production, it contributes to around one third of the CO2 emissions avoided in mobility in Portugal. To make the energy transition affordable for all Portuguese people, the company operates and supplies a network of more than 250 service stations across Portugal, where it offers not only traditional liquid fuels, but also greener energy solutions such as ECO Diesel and ZERO Diesel, electric vehicle charging, and gas vehicle refuelling (Autogas). Depending on customers’ needs, PRIO provides solutions ranging from 7% to 100% renewable energy, with greater efficiency than traditional fuels.

To ensure its competitiveness and support an affordable energy transition in liquid fuels and Autogas, PRIO owns a set of infrastructures located at the Port of Aveiro, known as the “PRIO New Energies Complex”, where it independently purchases, produces, transforms, and stores different energy solutions. To promote the circular economy and produce advanced biodiesel, PRIO coordinates the collection of used cooking oils and other residual raw materials through more than 500 collection points across Portugal, while also recovering residual raw materials from sectors as diverse as margarine, sauce, olive oil, and coffee production.

The company operates with a 100% Portuguese operational base, is the largest company in the District of Aveiro, one of the sector’s largest employers and investors in Portugal, and holds triple QSA certification (Quality, Safety, and Environment).
