Jean-Francois SASSI

An engineer with a doctorate in (bio)polymer chemistry, I initially worked for 15 years as a researcher in the chemical industry (Rhône Poulenc – 1992-2000, then Rhodia – 2000-2006). Following this, I spent 7 years (2006-2013) at CEVA, the Centre for the Study and Development of Algae. Since 2013, I have been head of the Algae Processes and Technologies platform at the CEA in Cadarache (France). This collaborative R&D platform employs between 10 and 15 FTEs whose activities are dedicated to innovation projects supporting the development of the algae industry, both for existing markets (biomass and high value-added extracts for cosmetic, nutraceutical, and medical applications) and for emerging markets (mass production in circular carbon economy schemes, combining environmental services and material recovery for chemistry, materials, and energy).
