Happy Nordic Living Oy The name “Happy Nordic Living” reflects the company’s mission to bring Nordic well-being, sustainability, and transparency into modern housing – creating environments that support both people and the planet. In Ukraine, the name represents our goal to rebuild communities through sustainable, human-centered, and industrially efficient construction. Happy Nordic Living Oy (HNL) Founded in Finland in 2025 by companies with solid expertise in architecture, industrial construction, and wood technology — Nordevo Oy and Arkkitehdit Hannunkari & Mäkipaja Oy — Happy Nordic Living combines decades of Nordic experience with a clear focus on Ukraine’s green reconstruction. While Nordevo’s leadership has delivered over 110,000 apartments in Finland and abroad, Arkkitehdit Hannunkari & Mäkipaja brings over 30 years of award-winning experience in social and sustainable housing design. HNL designs and builds residential and public buildings using timber, hybrid, or concrete structures depending on project needs. In Ukraine, the focus is on timber-based NZEB buildings — ecological, cost-efficient, and based on Ukraine’s own forest resources. As an EU pipeline project, Happy Nordic Living is preparing the establishment of a modular element factory and a large-scale housing programme of NZEB apartments in selected hromadas from the Kyiv region to Western Ukraine. Through this industrial base, HNL aims to replicate sustainable housing models with hromadas across Ukraine, combining EU-aligned financing, Nordic technology, and Ukrainian local capacity. HNL also supports the harmonisation of Ukrainian DBN building codes with EU Eurocode standards, paving the way for a new generation of energy-efficient, multi-storey wooden buildings. Key objectives in Ukraine: Develop pilot projects for affordable and sustainable multi-storey timber housing. Build partnerships with Ukrainian hromadas, developers, and investors. Establish local production and value-chain cooperation for modular timber construction. Strengthen EU-compliant design, construction, and financing practices in Ukraine’s reconstruction.
