OlamAid e.V.
About
OlamAid is a Germany-based, international humanitarian organization supporting vulnerable communities affected by war, displacement, natural disasters and other crises. Founded on the principle that people in crisis need rapid, effective and culturally sensitive support, OlamAid combines emergency relief with rehabilitation, psychosocial support and longer-term community empowerment.
Our approach brings together three closely connected areas of work: emergency assistance, intercultural MHPSS, and community empowerment. We aim to address both immediate and longer-term needs, working with local organizations and communities to develop solutions that are relevant, inclusive and sustainable. Particular attention is given to groups facing heightened vulnerability, including children, women, older people, people with disabilities, minorities and communities affected by conflict or displacement.
OlamAid has developed and implemented more than 20 national and international projects, with experience in contexts of war, forced displacement and natural disasters. Our international work includes humanitarian and psychosocial support for displaced populations and refugees, protection and inclusion initiatives, food security, disaster response and community resilience. Projects have been implemented in Ukraine and neighbouring European countries, Germany, Greece, the Balkans, the Middle East and other crisis-affected settings. In 2025, OlamAid reached more than 77,000 people across 13 countries through programmes focused on mental health and psychosocial support, emergency relief, disaster risk reduction and support for vulnerable minorities.
In Ukraine, OlamAid has been active since early 2022, initially responding to urgent humanitarian and psychosocial needs and subsequently expanding its work towards community-based and sustainable support. Together with Ukrainian partners, OlamAid has provided emergency assistance, psychosocial support, humanitarian supplies, support to community and safe spaces, capacity building and resilience-building activities. Its work has included support to frontline and displaced populations, children and other vulnerable groups, as well as assistance to local organizations and communities.
OlamAid’s current approach in Ukraine increasingly connects emergency response with longer-term community resilience. For example, the organization has developed Emergency Safe Spaces into Community Hives: community-based spaces that provide protection while also hosting psychosocial support, training, social activities and local initiatives. These spaces are developed with local partners and transferred to community ownership, supporting longer-term self-organization and resilience.
Across its programmes, OlamAid places strong emphasis on local partnerships, participation, inclusion and capacity building. The organization works alongside local actors and affected communities, combining international expertise with local knowledge to respond to changing needs.
At the Rebuild Ukraine Health & Rehabilitation conference, OlamAid is interested in connecting its experience in emergency response, MHPSS, health-related support, rehabilitation, protection and community resilience with emerging needs and opportunities in Ukraine’s health and rehabilitation sector.
