RISE-Health @ Center for Translational Health and Medical Biotechnology Research - School of Health - Polytechnic Institute of Porto

A new research unit, RISE-Health, has been established as a hub for clinical and translational research. This initiative is driven by scientific complementarity, leading to a natural increase in critical mass, enhanced multi- and interdisciplinary synergies, a broader scientific scope, and improved territorial cohesion between coastal and inland regions of the country. RISE-Health brings together over 600 PhD integrated researchers with expertise in clinical and translational research. While Neurosciences, Cardiovascular, and Inflammatory Diseases remain core areas, the unit also integrates expertise in Digital Health and Artificial Intelligence, Biotechnology and Biomedical Innovation, and Community Health. The unit operates across 17 management centers, including the School of Health of the Polytechnic of Porto, which hosts three research groups at the Translational Health and Medical Biotechnology Unit (TBIO): • Metabonomics and Obesity-Related Disorders • Healthy Lifestyles and Environments • Translational Rehabilitation and Non-Invasive Brain Stimulation. These groups benefit from state-of-the-art laboratories and equipment’s dedicated to research in their respective fields.
