About

Çukurova University Faculty of Agriculture, Department of Field Crops is located in Adana, southern Turkey, a region characterized by a Mediterranean climate. The department is structured around three main scientific divisions: cereals, industrial crops, and forage crops. In addition to these core areas, long-term research activities have been conducted in several specialized sub-disciplines, including plant breeding, turf grasses, grain legumes, and bioenergy crops.

The department has a strong track record in applied and multidisciplinary research, with numerous projects implemented through close university–industry collaboration. These efforts have resulted in the development and registration of several high-yielding and high-quality crop varieties adapted to Mediterranean and semi-arid environments.

Furthermore, the department actively contributes to knowledge transfer and capacity building by regularly organizing training programs and extension activities focused on sustainable agricultural practices. These initiatives target farmers as well as stakeholders from public institutions and the private sector, supporting the adoption of innovative, resource-efficient, and environmentally sustainable cropping systems.
