Lattakia University (formerly Tishreen University) is a public university based in Lattakia. It is the third largest university in the Syrian Arab Republic. The university was established in 1971 (as Lattakia University). The necessary measures were taken to begin studies in three faculties at the beginning of the 1971/1972 academic year: the Faculty of Arts and Humanities, the Faculty of Science, and the Faculty of Agriculture. The university's campuses were located in separate locations in Lattakia.

The university's name was changed in 1975 to Tishreen University. It includes colleges and higher institutes in various scientific disciplines, research centers, a large university campus, and various university services. The university also includes a number of facilities, such as specialized hospitals, such as Tishreen University Hospital.

The university's name was changed to Lattakia University pursuant to Prime Ministerial Decree No. 3 of 25 December 2024.

The university has developed extensively and significantly, now comprising seventeen faculties, three specialized higher institutes, eight technical institutes, and three centers of excellence. The university awards 280 academic degrees, including undergraduate and postgraduate degrees (master's and doctoral degrees). The university is a member of numerous local, international, and global research bodies, unions, and networks, in addition to signing numerous agreements and partnerships with Arab and local institutions and organizations, as well as European and international universities. The university's expansion and diversity have enabled it to build a distinguished scientific and technical edifice and establish a prominent social and cultural legacy through the educational, scientific, and cultural activities of its diverse scientific and administrative human cadres, across various degrees and specializations.
