V.N. Karazin Kharkiv National University is one of the oldest public HEIs in Eastern Europe, with a 218-year history. Today, the University has one of the largest university campuses in Ukraine with 23 Schools and Educational and Research Institutes that train specialists in over 200 majors, covering the whole range of modern classic university education. At the moment KKNU has over 15000 students, 1200 of them are international students from 31 countries. About 400 Full Professors, over 1000 Assoc. Professors and PhDs work in KKNU. It is ranked among the top HEIs in Ukraine (#741-750) and has retained the leading position among UA universities for the last 10 years in a row. Despite the ongoing war in Ukraine, the university has not been displaced and continues all its activities still being based in the city of Kharkiv with university administration and all departments working from Kharkiv. Its Internalisation strategy is based on the University Strategic Objectives and Solutions Until 2030, which defines priority areas of the University activities for further advanced integration into the international scientific and educational space. At the moment, the university cooperates with over 230 foreign and national institutions with partners from over 50 countries, including 17 EU countries. The School of Chemistry and the School of Biology are working to create an open, multilingual academic community that can provide its graduates with high-quality skills in laboratory experiments and information processing for better employability. Developing distance format of course provides opportunities for inclusive science education and life-long learning which goes in line with The Gender Strategy (2023–2033), based on KKNU’s Code of Values. It ensures equal opportunities for all genders, promoting values of democracy, humanism, tolerance, and preventing gender-based discrimination in all areas of the university educational space.
