About me
Dr. Tatas Brotosudarmo (born in 1981) is a biochemistry professor at Petra Christian University in Surabaya, Indonesia, with extensive expertise in food chemistry and analysis. He is committed to enhancing EU-ASEAN relations through interdisciplinary and cross-sectoral partnerships. As the EURAXESS Worldwide Representative, he is a key mediator in strengthening Europe-ASEAN scientific ties, focusing on research initiatives like Horizon Europe and promoting researcher mobility and exchanges.
With over 20 years of research management experience, Dr. Tatas provides consultancy services to ASEAN institutions, helping them build resilient research frameworks, drive innovation, and cultivate strategic international partnerships. His efforts have elevated the global profile of research communities, fostering collaborations that contribute to sustainable progress.
Dr. Tatas has received prestigious awards and fellowships, including the 2017 Toray Science & Technology Award, the 2017 Study UK Alumni Award, the 2019 Georg Foster Research Fellowship from the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation. He has held notable positions, such as President of the Indonesian Chemical Society and Vice President for Science and Policy at the Indonesian Young Academy of Sciences.
As the founding chair of the MCAA Southeast Asia Chapter, he has been instrumental in nurturing EU-ASEAN research networks. Holding a master degree in chemistry from Ludwig-Maximilian University in Munich and a Ph.D. degree in molecular & cellular biology from the University of Glasgow, Dr. Tatas brings a wealth of global experience.
