About

I welcome expressions of interest from outstanding researchers intending to apply for the MSCA Postdoctoral Fellowships, and I am available to act as host and supervisor. Indicative research directions include:

Managing building complexity through ML and BIM

Leveraging machine learning (ML) metamodels in combination with Building Information Modelling (BIM) to reduce modelling effort and computational cost in the simulation of building-scale systems.

Whole lifecycle modelling approaches

Adopting lifecycle-based methodologies to ensure simulations capture the full complexity of building components while minimising overall emissions. AI-driven techniques can enable robust scenario development at early design stages.

Integration of real-world microclimates

Bridging the gap between simulation and reality by coupling urban building energy modelling (UBEM) with localised microclimate data (e.g. tree canopy coverage, land surface temperature), using hybrid observational and simulation datasets. AI methods can significantly accelerate model setup.

Candidate profile

Applicants should hold (or be close to completing) a PhD and demonstrate strong motivation for interdisciplinary research. Relevant backgrounds include engineering, architectural technology, machine learning/data science, or related fields.
