MSCA PF Offer: Department of Czech Studies - Supervisor doc. Bednaříková

The Department of Czech Studies in Olomouc is one of the oldest and research-oriented Czech studies institutions in the country. It offers vibrant academic environment for Czech philology, including textology and editorial practice, with options for pedagogical qualifications. The department collaborates with leading global researchers, engages in international projects, and organizes conferences shaping current literary and linguistic research. It publishes the peer-reviewed journal Bohemica Olomucensia and participates in prestigious international programs.

Supervisor:

Assoc. Prof. PhDr. Božena Bednaříková, PhD., an expert in Czech morphology and contemporary grammar, provides top-tier mentorship for postdoctoral researchers at Palacký University Olomouc. Her research focuses on word structure, inflectional and derivational morphology, and cognitive linguistics. She has authored two monographs, numerous publications, and a key study on derivational networks in Europe, while fostering the professional growth of early-career scholars and delivering international lectures. She also serves in the Ministry of Education's committee for foreign lectorates and is part of the scientific board of Zeitschrift für Slawistik.

Preferred research topics:

• Integrating Word Structure and Sentence Syntax: Advanced research through a functionalist lens

• Cognitive Perspectives on Word Formation: Exploring the mental processes behind derivational networks

• Innovation in Applied Linguistics: Developing cutting-edge methods for teaching Czech as a foreign/second language

• Linguistic Strategies in Media Discourse: Analyzing the impact of language on information neutrality and public perception

Candidate requirements:

• Previous residence in Czechia no longer than 12 months during the past 3 years Ph.D. in any linguistic (philological) discipline no longer than 8 years (exceptions for career breaks)

• Functionalist approach to language research

• Openness to interdisciplinary perspectives

• Strong motivation for independent research collaboration

• Active participation in scholarly and academic activities
