MSCA PF Offer: Department of Philosophy - Supervisor Dr. Halák

The Department of Philosophy at Palacký University Olomouc offers comprehensive teaching and research across a wide range of philosophical disciplines, including ethics, epistemology, metaphysics, and the history of philosophy from ancient Greece to contemporary thought in both continental and analytic traditions. It includes expertise in German and French phenomenology and philosophy of mind. Research also covers 4E cognition, environmental philosophy, and feminism. With an international environment, it fosters interdisciplinary and cross-traditional engagement in philosophical inquiry.

Supervisor:

Dr. Jan Halák specializes in classical and contemporary phenomenology, with a particular focus on Merleau-Ponty and 4E cognition, especially regarding the embodiment and its relation to cognition in general. His research bridges continental philosophy, philosophy of mind, cognitive science, and empirical fields such as neuroscience and physiology. He is also interested in philosophical applications in medicine, physiotherapy, and other practical domains.

Candidate Requirements:

• Well-defined research focus

• Presence at Palacký University for most of the fellowship

• Strong publication record

• Professional-level German or French (in addition to English)

• Interdisciplinary interest

• Collegiality and collaboration – active participation in seminars, workshops, research discussions

• Doctoral degree (Ph.D.) for no longer than 8 years (exceptions for career breaks)

• Previous residence in the Czech Republic not more than 12 months during the past 3 years
