Project description
The project addresses one or more of the supervisor's areas of expertise. Of particular importance are civil and criminal judicial cooperation in the European Union, the digitisation of justice and judicial cooperation, access to justice and transnational digital evidence. A key aspect is the treatment in the EU's priorities of victims of crime, vulnerable individuals and groups, particularly in accordance with the new directives on the protection of victims and the European Union's 2020-2025 Strategy. Specifically, the aim is to work on current developments and trends in procedural law at European level and in comparative law, in relation to the recognition of victims of crime and sustainable development goals. This area includes issues relating to both legal practitioners and
parties to proceedings, the accessibility of digitalised justice and the digital divide, among others. The development and evolution of European procedural law is considered from an international and comparative perspective, including current issues such as electronic data protection and the risks of using artificial intelligence. The candidate has the option of working on these current issues in the field of justice and judicial cooperation in the European Union, with an interdisciplinary perspective.
