Seeking Partners for Doctoral Networks
Associate Professor of Organic Chemistry at University of Catania - Department of Chemical Sciences
Catania, Italy
About
Our research group is interested in seeking partners for MSCA Doctoral Networks.
We offer an interdisciplinary research environment centered on natural products, with two main focuses: the synthesis of natural product analogues and green technologies for the valorization of agricultural waste.
Our current research focuses on:
i) Chemical and enzymatic modification of bioactive natural compounds (biomimetic and enzyme-mediated synthesis, together with the study of structure–activity relationships and the optimization of biological properties).
ii) Extraction, purification, and spectroscopic characterization (HPLC-UV, MS, NMR) of compounds from natural matrices (medicinal and fruit plants, biomass, agricultural waste, etc.).
iii) Study of antioxidant activity and inhibition of metabolic enzymes of natural and synthetic compounds, as well as of extracts enriched in polyphenols of natural origin.
iv) Metabolomic analysis by NMR.
