About
Since the initial COVID-19 pandemic outbreak, Roberto Mediavilla has focused on understanding the determinants of poor mental health among doctors and nurses worldwide and on developing evidence-based interventions to support them. He wrote the "Mental Health of Nurses and Doctors" (MeND) report, recently published by the World Health Organisation Regional Office for Europe, and he works to expand the adoption of best practices in mental health.
He holds a permanent position as a postdoctoral researcher at the Centro de Investigación Biomédica en Red de Salud Mental (CIBER-SAM) and a teaching appointment at the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid (UAM).
The Biomedical Research Networking Center (CIBER) is a Public Research Consortium created in 2006 under the leadership of the Carlos III Health Institute (ISCIII, the main Public Research Entity responsible of funding, managing, and carrying out biomedical research in Spain), to promote research excellence and build a critical mass of researchers in the field of Biomedicine and Health Sciences. CIBER is the largest Research Network in Spain with nearly 800 dedicated employees and more than 6,000 associated researchers integrated in more than 500 leading-edge research groups. Thanks to its network structure, CIBER is able to bring together more than 100 different associated institutions selected to join CIBER consortium based on their excellence.
The Department of Psychiatry at UAM is part of this network structure. This Department also serves as a Collaborating Centre for the World Health Organisation.
