Candidates interested in applying for a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Individual Postdoctoral Fellowship
About
Gradiant is seeking outstanding postdoctoral researchers who hold a PhD (with no more than 8 years of full-time equivalent research experience) and are interested in developing a research project within its team, under the framework of the Marie Curie Postdoctoral Fellowships 2025.
About Gradiant
Gradiant (GRAD) is a private Research and Technology Organization (RTO) based in Vigo, Spain. Its mission is to enhance business competitiveness through knowledge transfer in the fields of connectivity, intelligence, and security. Over the past 17 years, GRAD has carried out more than 340 R&D&I projects, including over 45 European ones, becoming a key player in technological innovation in Galicia.
Gradiant is supported by a board that includes the three Galician universities (Vigo, Santiago, and A Coruña) and major companies such as Abanca, Altia, Indra, Telefónica, and Televés. It holds certifications in Quality Management (UNE-EN ISO 9001), R&D&I Management (UNE 166002), and Information Security (ISO/IEC 27001).
Gradiant has solid expertise in Artificial Intelligence, with over 30 scientific contributions published in recent years. It has developed cutting-edge AI systems in international projects applied to autonomous vehicles, manufacturing, time-series analysis, and natural language processing.
The center is organized into four technical areas. Three of them will be involved in this project:
-
Intelligent Systems: focused on AI, Machine Learning, and Big Data, applied to sectors like manufacturing, healthcare, and agri-food.
-
Multimodal Information: specialized in AI and Deep Learning for image and audio processing (e.g., object detection, document forgery, or UAS navigation).
-
Advanced Communications: experts in wireless communication systems (5G/6G), satellite technologies, autonomous systems (UAVs, UGVs, USVs), and emerging quantum and photonic technologies.
The combined expertise of these areas ensures the successful implementation of the research.
Approximately 90% of GRADIANT staff are Telecommunications Engineers. Out of more than 240 professionals, 27 hold a PhD.
Project Overview
The project aims to advance the state of the art in neuromorphic computing, aligned with the following key concepts:
-
Third-generation neural networks: new mathematical and computational models inspired by biological neurons and brain interconnections.
-
Synaptic plasticity: the ability of neural connections to adapt based on experience and learning.
-
Parallelism and energy efficiency: replicating the brain's efficient parallel processing for low-power AI, especially in edge computing.
Key technological topics include:
-
Reviewing and updating the state of the art in neuromorphic computing, including publications, hardware, and software.
-
Research on Spiking Neural Networks (SNNs) and their application to data types such as images and time series.
-
Investigation of continuous learning techniques and their integration with SNNs.
-
Research on compiling SNNs into FPGAs and designing neuromorphic-specific hardware.
-
Study of explainable AI (xAI) techniques applied to SNNs.
-
Exploration of neuromorphic vision sensors (DVS) and their integration into real-world applications.
-
Identification of use cases for neuromorphic systems (e.g., autonomous vehicles, healthcare, manufacturing).
MSCA-PF Criteria
