Quantum Europe Strategy: Quantum Europe in a Changing World

Earlier this year, the European Commission published the Quantum Europe Strategy, setting a clear and ambitious vision for Europe’s leadership in quantum technologies. This talk will present the genesis of the strategy — how it was conceived, developed, and shaped by input from the member states and the European quantum community — and outline its main components, vision and broader aim. It will highlight how the strategy addresses Europe’s strengths and challenges in a rapidly changing global landscape, from research and innovation to industrialisation, standardisation, and skills development. Finally, the talk will discuss how this roadmap and its implications positions Europe to remain a key player in the worldwide quantum ecosystem and to translate scientific excellence into economic and societal impact and discuss the Austrian national perspective on the mid-term future of the field.
