Based within the Department of Infectious Diseases & Public Health at City University of Hong Kong, our research group specializes in the study of the comparative morphology, biomechanics, and material science of sharks and rays. Our work aims to uncover the structural and functional principles underlying the exceptional adaptations of these marine animals, with a focus on their skin coloration, armor, and sensory systems. Through interdisciplinary collaborations and advanced imaging techniques, we strive to translate biological insights into innovative, bio-inspired materials and technologies. Our group is committed to advancing scientific understanding and fostering sustainable solutions to challenges in biomedical, environmental, and material sciences by exploring the remarkable diversity and complexity of shark and ray biology.
