My organisation
The Fraunhofer IZI-BB is dedicated to applied research in the fields of diagnostics, drug development, and process engineering, as well as food and environmental analytics. The long-term goal of the institute is to contribute to the preservation of health for humans, animals, and the environment, with the integrative One Health approach serving as the guiding principle and vision at its core. Key research areas include sample collection and preparation, the development of molecular recognition elements, data acquisition, and the miniaturization of biological processes. Additionally, a significant focus of the institute is on the production of functional proteins through cell-free protein synthesis and the development of processes for the extraction, handling, and manipulation of cells and biomolecules. The technical expertise of the institute is interdisciplinary, ranging from biotechnological production processes and automation to sensing technologies and nano- and microsystems technologies.
